Protected Bike Lanes on 3rd and 8th

Have you heard that Bentonville is installing it's first protected bike lanes?

The city is in the final phases of construction of two quick-build projects that will create safer, all ages and abilities connections! The protected bike lanes are on SW 3rd St. between SE Walton Blvd. and Coler MTB Preserve and SW 8th St. between the Applegate Trail Head West and SW I St.

A great aspect of quick-build projects is that both planning and building are much less expensive than typical projects. They use low-cost materials that can be installed quickly and more cost-effectively than pouring concrete and moving curbs. It also lets the city test the design of the protected bike lanes, get community feedback, and adjust before more permanent improvements are made.

Here's what we are asking of you:

  • Be patient while the city completes construction! Pending delivery of the final materials, the protected bike lanes and new signage should be installed by the middle of June.
  • Start planning your bike rides with your friends and family to visit Coler, Osage Park, the Applegate Trail, or Downtown Bentonville.
  • Talk to your friends and neighbors about the benefits of all ages and abilities' bike infrastructure.
  • Once the protected lanes are completed, please send feedback to the city. But if you love the idea, it can't hurt to start letting the city know now using the emails below.

We will send out more updates, including an invitation to the city's grand opening once those dates are set.
